43rd Annual Pat Guglielmo Miniature Golf Tournament
2024 Summary

Gooooooood Morning! It is Sunday August 18th and the 43rd Annual Pat Guglielmo Farmington Miniature Golf Tournament is ON! Before we start please allow me to take a minute to make sure we are ready to play. Donuts and coffee on the deck? – check. Thirty-seven golfers representing 5 states signed in? – check. Group photo taken? – check. Practice session underway? – check. We’re almost ready. Now let’s check the weather. It looks like light rain to start the tournament and it’s a little chilly too (for August). The 3 round event is cleared for play, and we are underway!

FAST FORWARD: The steady, light rain was a factor for sure on this day. Players had to adjust accordingly to allow for slow green speeds as well as the distraction of the rain itself. Despite those factors the first round was flooded with scores in the high 30’s and low 40’s led by Josh Kestenbaum’s 37 which was the low score for the day, and was later matched by Joey DiPrima. Landon Weiss and Griffin Weiss put themselves right in contention by both shooting 39. The rain actually picked up a bit going in to round two, but still some golfers were unshaken by the conditions. Josh and Landon held steady shooting 39 and 38 respectively to post just a one stroke differential going into the final round. The final round played on despite the continued wet and soggy conditions. After splashing through the course one last time the soaked final scorecards started rolling into command central for posting. When all was tallied a few persistent weather beaters started appearing at the top of the leaderboard. In the end it was Josh Kestenbaum who best put aside the distractions of the day to WIN the event by two strokes over Landon Weiss with a final round 41. CONGRATULATIONS to Josh in navigating 3 great rounds especially in those conditions! Others showered with prizes were Mark Novicki finishing third in the top division. Other notables were Dan Fredenburgh finishing first in the second division followed closely by Doug Wipfler. Prizes also went out to Joey DiPrima and Brody Fackler (our youngest player) for holes in one on hole #2.

It is the goal of all players to try and be under par as much as possible, but we must make mention of two groups that score well OVER par each year and those are the Jimmy Fund and UConn Children’s Cancer Fund. With the help of all participants, your hosts Phil, Paul and Pat Guglielmo were able to donate $1060.00 this year! Thank You for your efforts to make this possible. Once again congratulations to all those who scored prizes and one last big FMG salute to Josh Kestenbaum our ‘raining’ champion!

Look for our 44th annual tournament in August of 2025. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
